Gary Christensen and Mike Ferguson did not set out to become engineers. They were U.S. Army veterans, bowhunters, and backcountry problem-solvers who had seen too many animals lost after a shot.
Established and still headquartered in the great outdoors of Idaho, Pro-Tracker remains dedicated to solving hunting’s hardest problems, one shot, one recovery, and one hard-earned improvement at a time.
Pro-Tracker was born from a problem every serious hunter understands. You make the shot, follow the sign, do everything right, and still risk losing an animal to terrain, weather, poor visibility, or a blood trail that disappears before the recovery is complete.
For Gary Christensen and Mike Ferguson, that outcome was never something to shrug off. As veterans and bowhunters, they approached the problem with the mindset that failure should teach, not define, the next attempt. If hunters were losing animals, breaking shafts, or giving up performance because the available gear had limits, then the answer was not to accept those limits. The answer was to build something better.
Pro-Tracker did not begin in a boardroom. It began with two hunters working through a problem the hard way. Early ideas were shaped by backcountry experience, then refined through trial, error, and the kind of stubbornness that only comes from believing the problem is worth solving.
The company’s patented systems reflect that journey. Bad Boys® FOC sleeves, Friction Grip Collars, the Pro-Tracker Recovery System, and the relaunched Deadly Series arrow shafts were each built from practical field frustration, then developed into purpose-made tools for bowhunters.
When a hunter steps into the field, gear is not decoration. It is trust. It has to hold together, fly true, penetrate cleanly, and perform when the moment is short and the stakes are high.
That is the promise behind Pro-Tracker. The company builds products to help hunters strengthen their setups, increase confidence in their shot, and improve their chances of recovery. Gary and Mike set out to change the archery industry for the better. That mission continues today through products built in Idaho, tested by hunters, and designed for the moments when performance, recovery, and responsibility matter most.
